WHAT IS BALL MILL ?
In the mining industry, ball mill are used as grinding equipment at the comminution stage to liberate minerals from barren ores by reducing the feed material size. The most common types of grinding equipment are ball mills. A ball mill grinds material by rotating a cylinder with steel grinding balls, causing the ball to fall back into the cylinder and onto the material to be ground.
Its rotation depends upon the diameter of the ball mill and is usually 4 to 20 revolutions per minute. The speed of the ball mills is always opposite to the diameter, the larger the diameter, the slower the rotation. If the peripheral speed of the mill is too great, it begins to act like a centrifuge and the balls do not fall back, but stay on the perimeter of the mill.
